Orthosilicic Acid Supplement

Orthosilicic acid, the water-soluble form of silicon found predominantly in seawater, plays an important role in the health of bones, joints and blood vessels, as well as skin, teeth, hair and nails. When stabilized by choline, orthosilicic acid supplements have a particularly high bioavailability.

What is orthosilicic acid?

Orthosilicic acid is completely natural; it’s found in many foods, including seafood, (seawater is the biggest orthosilicic acid source), whole grains, vegetables, as well as beverages, such as beer.

Othosilicic acid is often called soluble silica, which is the dietary form of silicon. This mineral is vital to the production of bone and collagen. Even though you receive orthosilicic acid naturally through your diet, many people choose to supplement with it because of its myriad of potential health benefits.

What is choline stabilized orthosilicic acid?

Orthosilicic acid is a silicon atom that is surrounded by four hydroxide combinations (OH). On its own, it's completely unstable. But that's where choline comes in.

Choline is a valuable nutrient that we consume every day. In fact, most of us get plenty of choline in our regular diets. You can find it naturally in chicken, almonds, cauliflower and many other foods.

However, there is an important use for this nutrient beyond supplying our health needs: it can also be used to stabilize orthosilicic acid, and in the process it creates a more bioavailable form of silicon.

Our choline orthosilicic acid formulation is created to reach maximum absorption faster and more effectively. Instead of the valuable nutrients in it being excreted by the body as waste, they are used to promote better health and well-being. Not all manufacturers use a choline supplement from stabilized orthosilicic acid, which is why you must perform due diligence before choosing a supplement.

Orthosilicic Acid Benefits

There are several orthosilicic acid uses, as is evidenced in scientific studies. Below are details related to some of the top choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid benefits.

May Help Regulate Bone Mineralization

Animal studies suggest silicon supplementation reduces the number of osteoclasts, the cells responsible for bone resorption, and increases levels of osteoblasts, the cells responsible for bone formation.

The older you get, the more important bone density becomes. According to the CDC, more than 300,000 older people get hospitalized for a hip fracture each year. And while many of these hospitalizations are caused by falls, but with stronger bones, there would be a decreased chance of bone breakage.

May Help Injured Bone Recovery

When a bone breaks, a speedy recovery is key — especially if you’ve broken a body part that significantly impacts your day-to-day life. Thankfully, stabilized orthosilicic acid may provide some assistance.

High concentrations of silicon are found near sites of intensive calcification, such as in the case of a fracture. This is likely why various trials conducted following fractures associated with trauma or at the time of surgery suggest that silicon supplementation promotes faster healing.

May Aid the Formation of Joint Cartilage

In addition to its role in ensuring calcium deposition in bones, silicon is crucial for the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAG), which is abundantly present in cartilage and has a significant capacity for retaining water. They include, in particular, chondroitin sulfate, dermatan sulfate and hyaluronic acid.

Cartilage covers the end of bones, creating a low-friction environment and supple cushion. By ensuring that cartilage remains healthy, you promote better bending and straightening movements. Keeping the joints moist also protects them from the stresses of weight-bearing, further aiding mobility.

Important Ingredient of the Arterial Wall

After the skin and the thymus, the aorta is the body tissue that contains the most silicon. With advancing age, silicon levels drop significantly, suggesting that this loss may play a key role in the aging of the arteries and may even increase the risk of damage to the arterial wall.

According to the CDC, coronary heart disease remains the most common form of heart disease. This condition killed nearly 366,000 people in 2017. Plus, over 18 million adults over the age of 30 have coronary artery disease (CAD) and 20% of CAD deaths occur in individuals that are younger than 65.

Post mortem studies have highlighted decreased silicon levels found in the arterial tissue of atherosclerosis patients compared to healthy arteries. The aorta and the carotid artery of healthy individuals contain ten times more silicon than atheromatous arteries. Animal and human studies show that silicon supplementation combats LDL oxidation, which can cause a decline in arterial health.

Supports Skin Health

Silicon is essential for the optimal synthesis of collagen and elastin. It is also crucial for the activation of hydroxylation enzymes which intervene in collagen cross-linking, responsible for the resistance and elasticity of fibrous proteins. A higher level of collagen is synonymous with more elastic, less wrinkled skin. In a study of women aged 40 to 65 showing clear signs of skin photoaging, supplementation with orthosilicic acid reduced fine lines and improved skin elasticity.

When you consider how much money you spend on skincare products, you might be amazed to see that you are spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars each month. However, many of these products don't deal with what's happening in the body and, instead, only focus on what appears on the surface.

Instead of promoting your skin’s health from the outside, you can use orthosilicic acid to promote healthy skin from within, and that could translate into more radiant-looking skin.

Strengthens Nails

Silicon not only affects the health of your skin, but also your nails and hair. The higher the silicon content is, the healthier the nails and hair appear to be. Silicon is one of the predominant minerals in nails, which is why researchers believe soft, brittle nails could be caused by a silicon deficiency.

One study followed 48 women who had fine hair. They were treated with 10 mg of silicon each day over nine months. After treatment, the women's hair was studied for structure and tensile properties. The results showed that silicon supplementation not only improved the strength but also the break load and elasticity. These factors encouraged thicker, more beautiful hair.

Orthosilicic Acid Side Effects

While orthosilicic acid is considered safe to use for most people, it's still important for you to do your own research before starting any new supplement regimen. That’s why we encourage you to research the choline stabilized orthosilicic acid side effects for yourself.

It's also best to discuss with your healthcare provider possible interactions if you’re taking any other medications or supplements. Additionally, if you suffer from chronic diseases or ailments, you shouldn't start a new supplement without professional guidance.

And if you are a pregnant woman or nursing mother, it's always recommended that you take precautions regarding any medication or supplement you choose to take. When in doubt, please contact your healthcare practitioner.

How to Take Choline Stabilized Orthosilicic Acid Supplements

When you buy our orthosilicic acid supplement, you get 20 mg of Silicon (orthosilicic acid stabilized with choline) per serving. Because our supplement is provided as a liquid, the absorption of choline orthosilicic acid is better compared to tablets or capsules. Liquid supplements are not only easier to digest but also have higher optimization rates and faster absorption rates.

We recommend taking 8–20 drops a day. At this rate, one container of orthosilicic acid should last you approximately one month. However, you should always discuss an appropriate dosage with your physician, as they have a better understanding of your health needs.

For best results, you want to keep your supplements in a dark, cool location. Allowing sunlight to hit your supplements might reduce the potency and effectiveness. Additionally, always store your supplements away from children and pets. And consider pairing orthosilicic acid with other products from Supersmart for a balanced approach to health and well-being.
