What are your capsules made of?

Most of our caps are made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), recognized as safe by the FDA and the European Union for food use1. It is a compound of plant origin (plant cellulose), whose transformation does not involve any chemical additive or animal product.

Our HPMC caps are manufactured by expert companies such as Capsugel, who make the results of analysis performed on their capsule ranges available to us. This way, we can ensure the respect of quality and safety standards established by health authorities, as well as their harmlessness to humans. Some of our caps are made from pullulan, a plant-based polysaccharide compound produced from the non-toxic Aureobasidium Pullulans mushroom. It is also recognized as “safe” by the FDA and the EU.

HPMC and Pullulan are excellent alternatives to gelatin, an animal-based compound. They are non-harmful to the body, non-allergenic, non-pathogenic, and non-carcinogenic. Pullulan has two unique advantages: it is easier to produce and highly impermeable to oxygen (ideal to preserve fragile ingredients). However, it is more prone to breakage in case of strong hygrometry variations.
Exceptionally, some of our caps contain gelatin. In this case, it is mentioned in the product description, in the composition table, and on the label. The choice of capsule material depends on the constraints related to the products and their delivery method.
