Shatavari Root Extract and Well-Being*
What is Shatavari?
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), also known as wild asparagus, is a climbing herb native to India, possibly recognized for its wellness-supporting properties.*
It contains steroidal saponins, including shatavarins, potential key bioactive compounds.*
The root of the plant – the rhizome (the subterranean stem that stores nutrient reserves) – appears to be valued in Ayurveda for helping to promote female vitality and balance.*
Shatavari and Menopause*
Shatavari seems to have traditionally been used to support balance and overall comfort during menopause, the natural stage of life when hormonal changes can influence well-being.*
Its naturally occurring shatavarins – plant compounds that may be structurally similar to phytoestrogens – are believed to play a role in promoting wellness during this transition.*
The effects of Aspurus®, a standardized shatavari rhizome extract, were evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, multi-center, placebo-controlled study over 8 weeks with 70 participants aged 40 to 65.* The group taking 250 mg of Aspurus® twice a day seemed to have experienced improvements in overall well-being and daily comfort during menopause, compared to placebo.*
Reported improvements may have included:*
- Temperature regulation: 89%*
- Nighttime comfort: 88%*
- Energy levels: 94%*
- Restful sleep: 86%*
- Emotional well-being: 83%*
- Mood balance: 75%*
Women in the Aspurus® group might also have noted a 34% improvement in intimate wellness, potentially associated with enhanced comfort and desire.*
No adverse effects appear to have been reported, possibly highlighting the tolerability of Aspurus® in this study.*
Additional Potential Benefits of the Shatavari Root*
Beyond menopause, traditional use of shatavari seems to associate it with promoting relaxation, muscle maintenance, hormonal balance, reproductive wellness, and possible comfort during breastfeeding.* It also appears to have been valued for helping to promote cardiovascular, digestive, renal, and immune health, as well as male vitality.*
Features of our Super Shatavari Supplement*
Our Super Shatavari supplement feature 4 main characteristics, potentially making it a good supplement choice:*
- Clinically studied Aspurus® extract: our formula features Aspurus®, a potentially high-quality branded extract evaluated in clinical research to help support female wellness during menopause.*
- Standardization to 5% shatavarins: unlike some extracts standardized to general saponins, Aspurus® focuses specifically on shatavarins, the possible key compounds believed to deliver targeted support.*
- Clinically aligned dosage: provides 500 mg of shatavari per day, supposedly matching the dosage studied for beneficial effects.*
- Natural and clean composition: delivered in vegetarian capsules with 100% natural acacia gum as the only excipient.*
